A map showing the Thief River Watershed, that categorizes stream reaches for total suspended solids restoration and protection based upon 2016-2025 data. Highlights include the newly barely impaired section of the Thief River between Thief Lake and Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge that spurred an adjustment in priority areas for the plan amendment. The Lower Thief River and JD 11 within Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge are more severely impaired by TSS. The Moose River and a lower portion of the Mud River are nearly impaired by TSS. Other tributaries like CD 20, JD 30, Branch 200 of JD 11, Branch A of JD 21, and the Mud River by Grygla fall into the "highest quality" category.

Thief River One Watershed One Plan (1W1P) Minor Amendment

After a Mid-Point Assessment of progress and changing water quality conditions, a Minor Amendment was completed in 2026 for the Thief River Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan.
